Full coverage foundation has been slowly losing popularity for some time now, and in its place are CC creams. Today I’m reviewing 4 of my favorite alternatives to foundation that you can add to your daily routine.
#1 Dr. Jart+ - CicapairTM Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30; 1.7 oz for $52.00; EWG 3 The Dr. Jart Cicapair line includes a series of products all containing tiger grass (or Centella Asiatica) which is an herb plant that is native to Asian wetlands. Tiger grass is known for reducing inflammation which is why it is a superior color corrector for aging skin concerns such as redness, eczema, and rosacea. Tiger grass also has healing elements that will help with adult acne and other facial imperfections. Fun Fact: Tiger grass was historically used for healing battle wounds!
This color-correcting treatment comes in only one transforming formula. The consistency is very similar to a daily moisturizer and comes out of the tub as a light green. When transferred to your skin, it transforms into a neutral beige that blends with your skin tone.
Tip: This formula is buildable! It goes on just fine with your fingers, but you can also use a brush or beauty blender to build more coverage.
The treatment is free of artificial fragrance, artificial color, denatured alcohol, triethanolamine, sulfate-based surfactants, triclosan, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and DEA.
#2 BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Mineral SPF 30; 1.18 oz $33.00; EWG 4 This BareMinerals tinted moisturizer is a clean gel cream that feels incredibly lightweight. It has SPF 30 and hyaluronic acid. You really won’t feel like you are wearing make-up with this formula because it absorbs just like a moisturizer while still providing considerable yet light coverage. The coverage on this tinted moisturizer is luminous and dewy, so it’s going to help with minimizing the look of fine lines on aging skin.
Skincare Over 40 Tip: If you are prone to really dry skin in the winter, try using this tinted moisturizer on top of your current moisturizer.
Wanting to overhaul your entire daily look for something more simple and natural? Check out this Rescue Me Customizable Complexion Rescue Kit. It includes everything you need for a natural and youthful appearance including an all-over bronzer, finishing veil, and “mineralist” lip gloss.
#3 Pacifica - Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream; 1 oz for $17.99; EWG 3
This Pacifica BB cream is sheer and hydrating. It contains hyaluronic acid for moisturizing and floral stem cells for diminishing the appearance of fine lines, pores, and generally uneven skin tone in mature skin. Pacifica is a cruelty-free and vegan brand as well as has a “clean” seal of approval from Target meaning it is formulated without phthalates, propyl-paraben & butyl-paraben, sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), and more.
How to Use: Blend with fingers onto skin after skincare. This formula cannot replace a moisturizer nor does it contain SPF. It has illuminating properties and will leave you with a dewy and radiant finish that is perfect for makeup over 40.
#4 Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint - 1 oz for $11.50 The least expensive recommendation for today is this Neutrogena face tint. It’s such a bargain, AND you can add it to your grocery pick-up order since Neutrogena is sold at most supercenters and drugstores. With Hyaluronic Acid, this tint boosts your skins hydration while evening out your complexion.
This sheer face tint has not only SPF but a boost of anti-aging retinol. Yay! It comes in 10 transforming shades that dry to a radiant finish that blurs fine lines and wrinkles and is perfect for aging skin. This formula is oil-free (and aluminum-free), is suitable for daily use on oily, combo and dry skin.
I hope these idea's help you find the right foundation alternative. I have reviewed each of these and they made the top of the list. Because new products are coming on the market all the time, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you'll be notified when new makeup reviews are uploaded!
